The benefits for our members are manifold:
Assobiotec works at creating an enabling environment for the success of all biotech companies which are active in Italy. The Association enjoys a strong relationship with a large number of national and international stakeholders, with the aim of promoting the best ethical, regulatory and financial framework for Life Sciences companies in Italy.
Assobiotec actively pursues the improvement of the Italian and European legislation in the area of Life Sciences.
The sssociation is part of the Committee for Biotechnology, Biosafety and Life Sciences established within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and regularly participates at the Inter-ministerial Table for Pharmaceuticals, in order to allow adequate recognition and protection to bio-pharmaceutical innovation.
Assobiotec is periodically invited to present in the various Parliamentary Committees. Accordingly, our Members have the opportunity to address the different key issues relating to the development of the biotech industry in Italy with Ministers or Members of Parliament, as well as with the heads of the scientific and regulatory institutions in our Country.
Several of ad-hoc events organized by the association, also allow our members to openly confront with the highest political, regulatory, scientific and administrative offices, thus playing an active role in shaping the development policies for biotechnology in Italy.
Assobiotec supports and enables the sharing of best practice among all of its Members, as well as the access to the top level training programmes in a number of relevant areas which are strategic for the development of the biotech industry (i.e.: Business Development, Intellectual Property, etc.)
The association pulls together large companies with SMEs and start-ups, thus favoring the transfer of experience, know-how and best practice among them, as well as the possibility to pursue fruitful and successful partnership opportunities.
In collaboration with InnoveHub (the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Special Agency for Innovation) and Intesa San Paolo, Assobiotec annually organizes the BioInItaly Investment Forum: a dedicated event aimed at presenting the Italian biotech and nanobiotech companies to a broad and qualified panel of international corporate and financial investors.
Being part of an extensive and qualified network is an essential condition to ensure the development and success of any biotech company.
Accordingly, Assobiotec is actively committed in multiplying the interaction opportunities among all of its member companies, going far beyond the organization of the usual business meetings by proposing ad hoc workshops or social events with top level guest speakers, focused on the scientific challenges and entrepreneurial opportunities of biotechnology.
Moreover, the association promotes and supports the participation to the major events of the biotech sector at worldwide level, by offering to its Members discounts or preferential rates.
It was thanks to Assobiotec that BioEurope Spring could take place for the first time in Italy, in 2007. This event has now become a regular event in our Country (2009 and 2011 – Milan; 2014 – Turin) . Ample space for the promotion of member companies is offered in our newsletter.
We aim at being the voice of biotechnology in Italy. Indeed, through the association newsletter and this new website, not only we enjoy sharing a continuous news flow with all of our associates but also we communicate regularly with all of our external stakeholders, including government institutions, universities, public and private research organizations, the media and the citizenship itself.
In addition to our website and newsletter, Assobiotec publishes the Italian Biotechnology Report which is edited, on an annual basis, by EY in collaboration with Farmindustria and ICE. In addition to the key data of the sector, the BioInItaly report highlights the key trends of the biotech industry in Italy in the context of the broader European scenario.
Besides representing as effectively as possible our associate Members position on the challenges of the Italian biotech industry, we are truly looking forward to increasing public awareness and drawing the attention of our authorities to the positive impact of biotechnologies and scientific research on all aspects of our lives while making an important contribution to Italy’s economy in terms of its competitiveness.
